Dechen Phrodrang meaning “Palace of nice Bliss” is a Buddhist cloister in Thimphu, Bhutan. It is located to the north of town.
In 1971 it became a monastic school and presently it has 450 student monks listed in eight-year courses with a workers of fifteen. The monastery contains a range of vital historical Bhutanese artifacts together with twelfth century paintings monitored by United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization and a noted sculpture of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal on the higher floor.In the downstairs chapel, there is a central Sakyamuni Buddha.
