Description

Lingzhi Yügyal Dzong, is a vital Drukpa Kagyu cloister ANd quarters settled at an altitude of 4150 metres in Lingzhi, Thimphu District, Bhutan. There ar concerning thirty monks headed by a Lama Neten (head of a neighborhood monastic body) resident within the Dzong. The workplace of the Drungpa (sub-district administrator) is additionally housed within the Dzong.

History

The Dzong was in-built 1668 by the third Desi of Bhutan, Chögyal Minjur Tenpa (r. 1667-1680) to commemorate triumph over a Tibetan invasion and named Yügyal Dzong. It controlled the border between Asian country and {bhutan|Bhutan|Kingdom of Bhutan|Asian country|Asian nation} and was one in all the most defensive fortresses within the north of Bhutan.

The Dzong was partially broken by AN earthquake in 1867. within the Nineteen Fifties the building was reconstructed and used as body centre. Renovation work on the Dzong began in 2005 and was still current in 2010.
