Taktsang Monastery is one of the significant and holy place in Bhutan located at Paro. The dzong is built on a stiff rock with a sheer drop of about 800m, and overlooks the Paro Valley. Tiger nest monastery lies at about 10000 feet.
Taktsang is one of the thirteen smallest monastery/dzong or “Tiger’s lairs” or “nest” where Guru Rinpoche or “Precious Master” are also known as the “Second Buddha” of Bhutan is said to have meditated.
Guru Rinpoche arrived at Paro Taktsang to meditate when he brought Buddhism to Bhutan in the seventh century. Every bhutanese believed that he had arrived on a flying tiger, which had recently been his Tibetan concubine. He then meditated in a cave high on the mountain for four months after which he subdued the local ‘demons’ and began the conversion of the Bhutanese to Buddhism.
It is located in Paro District which is 10km away from paro town. It has got no road. The walk time from the base to the Taktsang Monastery is about 2 to 2.5 hours. People should walk through forest. Before heading towards the direction of forest people get to see lots of beautiful traditonal stuffs for sale. If any one doesn’t want to walk there are horses to help to carry people.
Ultimately , get to see beautiful views on the way and signs are shown too for visitors. Every year and every few months so many tourists visit bhutan and they visit this beautiful dzong. Till now no tourist has miss this destiny. Now government has constructed the new roads and it looks so beautitul. And every one is so thankful to the government for making it possible to construct new steps. People became more comfortable. As always important they have tshechu(festival) every year. During the same auspicious day every people pray for welbeing of living beings through beautiful procession of holy images with colors and through mask dances thrilling stories are conveyed.
